About Us
FAWN is an organization of women of Philippine descent. It was established in 1980 following the First National Asian Pacific Women's Conference held in Washington, D.C. FAWN is the conduit through which common issues and concerns are addressed. The Minnesota Chapter was formed in 1984 and carries the same goals to the state level. Its goals and objectives
are to:
- Undertake training activities that will help Filipino American women acquire new skills or improve old ones to maximize their potential skills, knowledge and abilities;
- Reduce the barriers caused by racism and sexism in employment and other work-related areas;
- Gain proper representation in local, national, and international conferences, workshops, and seminars devoted to women's issues in general and Filipino American women in particular;
- Recognize and promote public awareness of Filipino American women of all ages, interests, and abilities;
- • Act as resource to one another through the establishment of a Resource Center, Speaker's Bureau, and a Talent Bank.
